    Wi-Fi Dry-Contact Sensor


    The Wi-Fi Dry Contact Sensor is a specialized product that works with your existing WiFi network. Distributed by Monnit, Spot-Protect, and others, these devices interface to a set of dry contacts (such as the HSRS relay). The Monnit MOWI and compatible variations can be purchased from multiple sources as listed below:

    These devices work with your existing WiFi network and permit you to remotely monitor the HSRS for a door/window violation resulting in HVAC shut-off. Using the
    iMonnit Online Portal, you can create an account and receive free notifications by e-mail and/or SMS text message when shut-off occurs.
    •  iMonnit offers online monitoring for both free (basic) and paid (premier) subscribers. Premier subscriptions are available to those who prefer extended features. For most users, the basic package is sufficient and includes everything necessary for receiving free email & SMS text notifications.

    The following list summarizes some key considerations pertaining to the iMonnit system.
    • The sensor is powered by two (2) AA alkaline batteries (included), providing up to 4 years of worry-free operation
    • Monnit provides a Windows application (free download) for setting up your sensor. The Wi-Fi sensor setup utility configures the sensor to operate on your WiFi network.
    • Use the iMonnit Online Portal to set up your sensor network with desired notifications.

    Sensor wiring is straightfoward as shown in the schematic below. Note that a secondary relay is required for isolation between the Dry-Contact Sensor and HSRS controller. (This relay must have a 24vac coil voltage.) Normally-open contacts are recommended. Click here for a list of compatible relay devices.
