The Keyless Mailbox / Locker System (KMLS) is an integrated access control system for OEMs who want to build their own keyless mailboxes or lockers. No keys are required; the patron simply swipes his assigned magnetic stripe, barcode, or proximity ID card through the reader and enters his private 4-digit PIN to unlock his mailbox,  locker, or safe.

Consisting of electronic controller, card-reader, keypad, and liquid crystal display (LCD) module, the KMLS provides convenient, secure access to mailboxes, lockers, or safes, without the use of keys.

  • Card-readers
  •
KMLS can be used with magnetic stripe, barcode, or proximity (RFID) card-readers. Interfaces include TTL (clock/data), RS-232, and Wiegand.

  • Controller
  •
The KMLS controller is the interface between the smart controller and the electronic locks or actuators.  performs lock control and is comprised of two mating circuit boards: the smart controller, and the power interface board (PIB).  The smart controller attaches to the PIB as a daughter card. The smart controller is a single-board computer which provides intelligent access control, onboard database, and built-in RS-485 multi-drop capability. The PIB operates under the control of the smart controller and provides interfacing to the locks. A single KMLS controller can control up to 20 or more locks, each corresponding to an individual mailbox or locker. (Optional expansion modules can be applied for controlling additional locks.) Maximum current draw per lock is 500mA. The two-board set, measuring 7" x 4.5", is shown in the phto below:

  • Actuators
  •
The KMLS is compatible with several types of locking mechanisms including miniature electronic strikes, solenoids, actuators, and magnetic locks.

  • Host Software
  •
KMLS host software provides flexibility plus convenience and gives the administrator central control of the system.  The software application includes patron database, configuration commands, and more. Check out these features:
  • Database maintenace
  • Controller configuration
  • Card monitoring
  • 3 operational modes
  • Upload new users
  • Auto-detect controllers
  • Configure controllers for one of three available modes: card-only, PIN only, or card and PIN. Assign, remove, or modify users instantly and from one central location. RS-485 multi-drop protocol allows for host communication and control up to several thousand feet away on a single twisted-pair cable.

  • Applications
  •
KMLS is suitable for these applications and more:
  • Post offices
  • Apartments
  • Hotels
  • Gym locker rooms
  • College dormitories
  • Shopping malls
  • Gated communties
  • Airports
